When and where is the GOTR Spring 5K?

The 2021 Spring 5K will take place at small site based 5Ks as well as virtually for the community May 15-May 16. You can choose the time and place - your neighborhood, backyard or even in your living room as long as you are following local social distancing guidelines!

How much does it cost to register for the race?

Registration is free. You can upgrade to be a GOTR supporter for $20 and receive a GOTR 5K shirt!

When can I register for the Virtual 5k event?

Registration will be done through our website.

May I register for the race after online registration ends?

Online registration will be open during the entire event.

What do I receive with my race registration?

You will receive a long sleeve t-shirt or lightweight fleece ear warmer. All registrants will also receive a medal.

Where do I get my race packet?

For Running Buddies of site based 5K's you can select to get your packet at your site. For all virtual running buddies and community participants your packet can be picked up on November 19 or be mailed to you for a small shipping fee.

CAN I BRING MY DOG OR PET?

For safety, all furry friends are not allowed on the course or at the event, so please leave all pets at home on 5K day! All pets will be asked to return to the pet owner's vehicle if spotted at the event.

What if I am not prepared to run a 5K?

No problem at all! Just like we teach our girls, the goal is to go at your happy pace and keep moving forward. You can choose to complete any distance you'd like. And, if local guidelines or other challenges prevent you from hitting the pavement, we have GOTR Physical Activity Cards just for you! You can find these activity cards on the confirmation page of your registration which will be emailed to you upon submitting your registration.

What should I wear to the event?

GOTR participants and coaches should wear their season shirts. Running Buddies wear their Running Buddy shirts. GOTR shirts should be worn as the TOP layer. The event will be held rain or shine so dress in layers to stay warm.

What else do I need to know about the GOTR Virtual 5k?

This race is open to the whole community. The event is virtual so feel free to invite your friends and family to participate no matter where they live!

MAY I REGISTER FOR THE RACE AFTER ONLINE REGISTRATION ENDS?

Individuals may register in person as follows: (1) Thursday, May 14th from noon - 6pm at the GOTR Offices: 525 North 12th Street, Suite 205, Lemoyne, PA; (2) On Race Day, Sunday, May 17th, starting at 8:00am.

WHERE DO I GET MY T-SHIRT AND BIB?

Program Girls, their pre-registered Running Buddies, and GOTR Coaches get their shirts & bibs at their team table on race day. Community runners may come to early packet pick up on Thursday, May 14th between noon and 6PM or to the registration area on the morning of the event. Early Packet Pickup is offered at four locations on Thursday,May 14, 2020 and is ONLY for Community Runners and those Coaches picking up for their entire team. Upon registering for the 5k, you will be asked to indicate the location from which you will pick-up your race packet. You must report to that location to receive your bib. (1.) GOTR Offices from Noon – 6pm (525 North 12th Street, Suite 205, Lemoyne, PA) (2.) New Balance Harrisburg from noon–6pm (5013 Jonestown Rd, Harrisburg) (3) Fleet Feet Sports from noon-6pm (6416 Carlisle Pike, Mechanicsburg) (4) Justice at Tanger Outlets Hershey (139 Outlet Square, Hershey) On Race Day, packets may be picked up at the Registration Tent near the Start Line beginning at 8:00AM.

WHAT IS THE 5K COURSE?

The 5K follows the mapped out HACC 5K course and will go along the outer loop of the campus. The course is mainly flat and includes running outside the parking areas and taking you through campus grounds. Please refer to the map above or in your emailed event guide.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO THE EVENT?

Parking

Parking for the Spring GOTR 5K will be on HACC's campus in lots E1 and E2, S-1 and S2 and W1-W2. Parking will also be available at CCA Lot and the Farm Show. No cars will be allowed to enter HACC campus after 9am. Parking lots on campus will close after the last runner passes through the exit.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN THE DAY OF THE EVENT?

HACC's Campus will be open only for those coming for the Girls on the Run event. Upon arrival, follow signs for Girls on The Run and directions to the nearest parking lots. HACC Security team, Harrisburg Police and volunteers will be assisting with parking. Girls on the Run participants & family members should plan to arrive at the Stadium by 8:00AM to allow adequate time for participating in family friendly, fun activities. After parking (which will be free), make your way to the EAST Parking Lots, heading towards the Athletic Fields on the far end of campus, where the activities and team tables will be set up. All program girls will meet at their team table where your coach will give you your bib. GOTR designated running buddies should arrive by 8:00AM and also head to the GOTR team’s table to pick up your shirt and bib. Race Day registration/packet pick up is open to community runners/walkers from 8:00AM to 9:00AM. The 5K starts at 9:30AM

WHAT DO I RECEIVE WITH MY RACE REGISTRATION?

All participants who register by April 26th will receive an event t-shirt in their requested size. For registrations received after this deadline, t-shirts are available on a first come, first served basis, while supplies last. All finishers will receive a finisher's medal.

WHAT ELSE DO I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE GOTR 5K?

This race is open to the whole community. We welcome your family and friends to cheer or register to walk or run! We ask that walkers and those running with strollers line up towards the back of the runners. Please don’t bring your pets. Personal music devices (ipods and MP3 players) are also not allowed at the race. Thank you in advance for your understanding.

OPPORTUNITIES
Registration and Venue Prep

Volunteers set up and assist with registration, packet pick-up, set up our rest and recovery zone, help check-in our volunteers and get them to the right place, prepare tables for our teams and sponsor activities. Arrival time is 6:30a.m. Time commitment is 2 to 3 hours. This volunteer opportunity is best suited for individuals over 18 years of age.

Friends & Family Zone

Volunteers assist our Sponsors and Partners with pre-race activities, including Happy Hair, Bling Your Bib, Tattoos, Face Painting, Photo Booth, Poster Making and much more! Time of arrival is 7:30 a.m. Time commitment is 2-3 hours. These volunteer opportunities are best suited for adults, older teens with guardians and adult or high school volunteer groups.

Course Assistance

Volunteers help set-up and host the water station, serve as course guides, or host cheer stations along the course. Arrival is 8:00 a.m. Time commitment is 2 hours. This volunteer opportunity is best suited for adults, teens with a guardian, and high school/college volunteer groups.
