Course Information

The 5K starts and ends inside Hersheypark Stadium. Much of the course winds through Hersheypark.

Restrooms will be available inside Hersheypark Stadium and at multiple location inside Hersheypark.

Spectators are prohibited from entering Hersheypark. There are numerous places for spectators to congregate inside and around the stadium, and along the sections of the course in the parking lot.

Packet Pick-Up

COMMUNITY PARTICIPANTS:

Packet pickup will be held on Thursday, May 4th at two locations:
- Noon - 7:00pm at Girls on the Run, 525 N.12th St., Suite 205, Lemoyne, PA 17043
- Noon - 6:00pm at New Balance Harrisburg, 4600 Jonestown Rd., near Colonial Park Mall
Race day packet pickup will be at Hersheypark Stadium in the pavilion near the stadium entrance, starting at 6:00am.

Please note that you MUST pick-up your packet at the location you selected at the time of registration. Otherwise, your shirt and bib will not be available.

COACHES:

One coach from each team should pick up their Team Bag at the Girls on the Run office (525 N. 12th St., Suite 205, Lemoyne, PA 17043) between Noon & 7:00pm on Thursday, May 4th. The Team Bag will include purchased coach 5K shirts, running buddy 5K shirts, coaches', girls' and running buddies' bibs, and supplies for happy hair and face paint.

GOTR and H&S PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS:

Pick up your bib from your coach at your team table on race day morning.

GOTR/H&S RUNNING BUDDIES:

Pick up your shirt and bib from your girl's team table the morning of the event. Be sure to know which school your girl attends for practices, so you can meet her. DO NOT come to packet pick-up on May 4th.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where should I park?

All participants (including running buddies, girls, coaches, etc) should park in the lot adjacent to Hersheypark Stadium. When entering the parking area, please stop at the parking gates and let them know you are with Girls on the Run. You will NOT need to pay for parking. Follow signs for Hersheypark Stadium and any GOTR signs. Volunteers will be on hand to direct cars. A Coach Box Drop Off station will be located just outside the stadium entrance for the convenience of our coaches. Just drive up, drop off your coach box, then proceed to park. ALL PARKING IS FREE!

When and where is the GOTR Spring 5k?

The Spring 2017 5k starts and ends at Hersheypark Stadium on May 6, 2017. Pre-Race fun and activities begin at 6AM, followed by the run at 7:30AM.

How much does it cost to register for the race?

$25 - February 6th - April 2nd; $30 - April 3rd - April 30th (online) and May 4th (packet pick-up at GOTR office only); $35 - May 6th at the event

When can I register for the 5k event?

Online registration is open February 6th - April 30th. You can also register in person at early packet pick-up (at the GOTR office only) or on race day in the Hersheypark Stadium pavilion.

May I register for the race after online registration ends?

Individuals may register in person as follows: May 4th - Noon - 7pm: GOTR Offices: 525 North 12th Street, Suite 205, Lemoyne, PA May 6th - 6:00am: Hersheypark Stadium pavilion

What do I receive with my race registration?

All participants who register by 4/2/17 will receive an event t-shirt in their requested size. For registrations received after 4/2/17, t-shirts are available on a first come, first served basis, while supplies last. All finishers will receive a finisher's medal. All participants who register in advance online will be entered into a random drawing for prizes from our sponsors.

Where do I get my T-shirt and bib?

Program Girls, their Running Buddies, and any Coaches who are running will get their race packets at their team table inside Hersheypark Stadium on race day. Other family members and community runners may get their packets at early packet pick-up or on the morning of the event. Early Packet Pickup is at two locations on Thursday, May 4, 2017 and is only for Community Runners and Coaches picking up for their entire team. Upon registering for the 5k, you will be asked to indicate the location from which you will pick-up your race packet. You must report to that location to receive your bib. 1. New Balance Harrisburg from Noon – 6pm (4600 Jonestown Rd., next to the Colonial Park Mall) 2. GOTR Offices from Noon – 7pm (525 North 12th Street, Suite 205, Lemoyne, PA) On Race Day, packets may be picked up at the Registration Pavilion just inside Hersheypark Stadium beginning at 6:00AM. ________________________________________

What is the 5K Course

The 5k will start and end inside Hersheypark Stadium, with the majority of the course winding throughout Hersheypark.

What will happen the day of the event?

When entering Hershey, follow signs for Hershey Attractions onto Hersheypark Drive. From Hersheypark Drive, follow signs for Hersheypark Stadium. Girls on the Run participants & family members should plan to arrive at the Stadium by 6:00AM to allow adequate time for participating in family friendly, fun activities. After parking (which will be free), enter the Stadium and make your way to your team’s table inside the Stadium, where your coach will give you your bib. GOTR designated running buddies should arrive by 6:30AM and also head to the GOTR team’s table to pick up your shirt and bib.   Race Day registration/packet pick up is open to community runners/walkers from 6:00AM to 7:00AM. Pre-Race activities start at 6:00AM, and the 5k starts at 7:30AM

What should I wear to the event?

GOTR participants and coaches should wear their season shirts. Remember to dress appropriately for the weather, as the event will be held rain or shine.

What else do I need to know about the GOTR 5k?

This race is open to the whole community. We welcome your family and friends! Strollers and walkers are welcome at the race and should line up at the start behind the girls and their running buddies to minimize the injury potential of runners. Please don’t bring your pets. Personal music devices (ipods and MP3 players) are also not allowed at the race. Thank you in advance for your understanding.

OPPORTUNITIES

Registration and Venue Prep

Volunteers will help with 5K registration, packet pick-up, food and drink preparation, volunteer check-in, preparing tables for each team, etc.. Arrival time is 4:30 - 5:30 a.m. Time commitment is 2 to 3 hours. This volunteer opportunity is best suited for individuals over 18 years of age.

Friends & Family Zone

Volunteers assist participants with pre-race activities, including Happy Hair (colored hairspray), Bling Your Bib, Face Painting, Photo Booth, Poster Making, and much more! Time of arrival is 5:30 a.m. Time commitment is 3 hours. These volunteer opportunities are best suited for adults, older teens with guardians and adult or high school volunteer groups.

Course Assistance

Volunteers will set-up and host water station, serve as course guides, host celebration stations, and oversee food and drink distribution at the finish line. Time of arrival is 6:30 a.m. Time commitment is 2 to 3 hours. This volunteer opportunity is best suited for adults, teens with a guardian, and high school/college volunteer groups.
